Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce/GSCC  March 18th Transportation Committee Representatives Unable to Responded to Rail Issues.

The Transportation Committee that was implanted by GSCC was not prepared to respond to Rail Transportation Issue. Their expertise was founded on issues to promote increase in fossil fuel production and to improve auto sales, which give audiences a false understanding of transportation issues.

NRPC-Amtrak, Union Pacific, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Ballard Terminal Railroad, Norfolk Southern, Alaska Railroad, Rocky Mountaineer, LK Comstock & Company, Sound Transit Rail Division, Seattle Light Rail & Streetcar Services, and WSDOT Rail Division were not present at meet. As such, many of the audience questions could not be addressed properly.

The audience was concerned with Boeing Freight use of over the highways and how rail could improve freight to Boeing Renton & Everett Plants, to be more competitive in pricing and biding process. Including better freight services to GSCC Business Community.

Louis Alloin representing ATD LINES Road-Railer Freight Services, suggested that GSCC take a greater role to implement a Road-Railer Freight Services to the Pacific Northwest, to lower cost of shipping and improve delivery performance to Greater Seattle Industry and Merchants along the Rail Line Communities.

Thereby, developing Bimodal and Minimodal Freight Trucking Services to access rail shipping on community based logistic plan. Current, regional intermodal plans, forces shipper to use highway to reach Intermodal Station’s located on average 15-100 away or direct trucking 100-500 miles causing major highway congestion and inflating cost of products and services for GSCC Members.

Noting that Cost of Road-Railer Facilities are extremely lower with higher performance rate and lower operating costs. Than current intermodal services, which have a higher infrastructure and higher operating cost, with slower performance rate.
