The Army Post, Fort Ward Endicott Battery, located on Restoration Point Between Bean Point, Bainbridge Island, Washington, was named in G.O. 194, December 27, 1904, after Brigadier General Francis Nash, in Revolutionary War under Continental Army Command, who died October 17, 1777, of injuries received in action at Germantown, Pennsylvania Battle, October 4, 1777. Fort Ward Endicott Battery Post started in 1899, using a
HK Porter 0.4.2T (Built 1892 #1112) Steam Locomotive, Fort Ward Endicott Battery completed in 1903. On January 18, 1904 Fort Ward Army Post was transferred to the Coast Artillery, deactivated in 1917. Then Transfer to United States Navy in 1938, establishing
NPC "S" United States Navy Pacific Communication Command Center Station
for
Pacific Fleet.
