CODE OF CONDUCT

    Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club leadership positions are the board of directors, officers, committee sand other positions of leadership may include heading up a team of Volunteer, Examiners or Educational Classes. It all about dedication and responsibility toward members and the community who are looking to such individuals to lead, to accomplish a set of goals.

    Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Leadership is an outstanding commitments to serve the community. During tenure some people are not going to be happy with some of the decisions. Fwarc leadership is about being a leader to the organization, it members and the community. As a leader of Fwarc, is to be champion of change to create an organization, to empower members, improve our community and be a leader who will look at ways to do things better.



    PRESIDENT

  • Make executive decisions,
  • Represent the Fwarc to community, business leaders and other contact,
  • Lead or delegate leadership in club events and activities,
  • Monitor and respond or delegate emails,
  • Update Powerpoint presentations for meetings,
  • Ensure presenter or activity are ready for meetings,
  • Ensure Zoom meetings are scheduled,
  • Host and lead meetings,
  • Coordinate with building administrators to secure the use of meeting rooms,
  • Net manager: arrange and document standing schedule; publish schedule on the website; train new net control operators.

    VICE PRESIDENT

  • Primary coordinator of presentation for regular club meetings
  • Publish descriptions of upcoming presentation on the Fwarc website calendar,
  • Maintain presence at Events,
  • Work with President/Officers to make sure there is someone at meetings where presence is required,
  • In absence of the President, assume the duties of the President,
  • Actively reach out to community and recruit new members,
  • Develop recruitment strategy and organize recruitment events.

    TREASURER

  • Shows report at every meeting of any financial changes since the last meeting,
  • Periodically shows larger report of financial changes,
  • Primary responsibility for disbursement of all funds,
  • Keeps record of any financial transactions and petty cash,
  • Identifies sources of funding, writes grant proposals, and represents at proposal meetings,
  • Keeps track of community members' dues statuses in the roster and sends out emails to people confirming their dues payment, the date their next dues would be due, and for soliciting further dues at the turn of the year.

    SECRETARY

  • Takes notes at every meeting for archival,
  • Updates yearly roster with member information,
  • Records all official votes for approval of new members and expenditures,
  • Produces short summaries of events and attendance,
  • Tracks location of Fwarc equipment available to members,
  • Responds to QSL cards,
  • Provide assistance to treasurer for grant and fundraising proposals.

    TRUSTEE

  • Hold the FCC license for Fwarc station,
  • Renew the club's FCC license when due,
  • Promote goodwill among members and Community,
  • Stay in contact with the Station Manager regarding club projects and station activities, assisting when able,
  • Possess a keys for after-hours access to Fwarc buildings, supplies and Radio Equipment.

    MANAGER

  • Lead technical responsibility to ensure the equipment, configuration, and operation of the station is in compliance with FCC rules, in alignment with ARRL best engineering and operating practices, and consistent with the mission of the statement,
  • Key driver of improvements to shack and radio station,
  • Repair or arrange to get equipment repaired,
  • Actively recruit new members in person, Internet and on the air,
  • Create and document new educational activities,
  • Train new members and designate trainers to safely and legally operate Fwarc equipment and best practices.

    COMMUNITY LIAISON

  • Handle reservations for social events at restaurants, especially the annual dinner,
  • Keep up to date on meetings and events at other local community advisory board,
  • Members are typically alumni who have valuable experience,
  • Continue to advise for smooth transition between leadership teams,
  • Contribute to the creation of and participation in educational and social events.

    Fort Ward Amateur Radio Committee Members work with variety of local governments and community liaisons to establish personal contacts with officials where possible and briefly and non-technically, about Amateur Radio and how it can help their communities.

    Committees Members works together to identify and publicize activities and stories to local news interest, including Fwarc election's and appointment and leadership positions, QST articles by local authors or local achievements by amateurs.

    Committee Members must be fully informed on tasks, regulations, activities and places news release, Fwarc editorials for newsletter mailing list.

    Committees Assists in recruiting public speaking engagements and promotes interest among community and service organizations in finding out more about Amateur Radio.

    Committees Quickly Report Club Officers and Staff, of any issue or significant event noted which may either enhance or damage the reputation of Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club.

    Networking with other Committees and community leaders to facilitate coordination.


  • CLUB MEETINGS AND PROGRAMS: Fwarc Meeting and Programs Officer and Staff assists in suggesting topics for monthly club meetings, This committee also assists in finding presenters and other resources for presentations.

  • MEMBERSHIP: Officer and Staff will be responsible for identifying membership opportunities, creating or finding appropriate advertising and recruiting objectives, via web conferencing or in a self paced youth environment.

  • CLUB STORE: Fwarc Store Officer and Staff assists in running the club store. Responsibilities include inventory, purchasing appropriate materials, setup/take down of club store during club events and meetings, and selling these items to club members and the general public.

  • YOUTH PROGRAMS: Officer and Staff will be responsible for identifying youth opportunities, creating or organizing appropriate youth curriculum and educational class room instruction topics, via Zoom Conference or in a youth environment.

  • EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Officer and Staff will be responsible for identifying education opportunities, creating or finding appropriate curriculum and recruiting instructors to teach these topics in person, via Zoom Conference or in a self paced style environment.

  • FIELD DAYS AND EVENTS: Field Day and event Officer and Staff organizes the club annual Field Day and event activities. This includes our remote station, an in-town station and any home/web activities for the ARRL Field Day Weekend.

  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE COORDINATIONS: Emergency Response Officer and Staff organizes the club emergency coordination activities. must be familiar with local emergency protocols and establishes relations with the lead governmental response agency and their requirements for participation in a joint response, information sharing and training and communications in an emergency.

  • HF REMOTE STATION: HF Remote Station Officer and Staff is established to create a proposal, research best practices and create a budget for the building and setup of a HF Remote Station. This station, once established, will be available to the members to use.

  • COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Fwarc Community Engagement Officer and Staff supports the annual community programs. This committee works with local communities to introduce amateur radio fraternity to youth and school programs.

  • PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY: Photography/Videography Officer and Staff will assist in taking pictures and video for use by the club on social media platforms, the web and print publications. This committee also provides graphics and video to document the work of the club during the year.

  • PUBLIC INFORMATION: Public Information Officer and Staff assists to establish relationships with government agencies, media and the general public. They also assist in coordinating club messages and communication.Generates advance publicity through the local media of scheduled activities of interest to the general public

  • REPEATERS AND RELAY STATION: The Repeaters Officer and Staff works to ensure Club repeaters and relay Station are maintained and working well and available to the Emergency Organizations and Peninsular Communities.

  • AM-239 PROJECT: Minesweeper Gayety AM-239 Officer and Staff works to ensure the AM-239 Project is up and running and available for use by Club Members. This committee will also work to maintain other mobile assets including the antenna trailer and the mobile repeater.

  • CIVIL AIR PATROL/CAP: Civil Air Patrol Officer and Staff works to ensure the CAP Members is up and running and available for students, youths and emergency use by CAP Members. This committee will also work to maintain other CAP assets including seaplane maintenance, FAA Regulations, base moorage, Radio Communications and air traffic controls.
