REACT COMMUNITY CB-9 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS

"In emergencies, all reliable communications are the lifeline for survival".

FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB, RADIO EMERGENCY ASSOCIATED COMMUNICATIONS TEAM/REACT Team is a public service organization comprised of private CB radio operators serving travelers and Bainbridge Island communities alike with Amateur Radio communications. FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB Member volunteers are dedicated to improving their communities by providing voluntary, two-way communications.

FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB, RADIO EMERGENCY ASSOCIATED COMMUNICATIONS TEAM/REACT Team is a Bainbridge Island and Washington State community emergency response service using the citizen band channel 9 (Frequency 27.065MHz) for local citizens to effectively communicate via CB Radio Distress Response Call and Monitoring.

The FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB REACT purpose is to monitoring Emergency Channel 9 for distress calls and community disaster emergency management team communications for a radio diversity capacity to reaching a larger CB Radio REACT Team Operators.

FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB REACT COMMUNITY TEAMS are vital emergency management communications, along with non emergency communication with other CB 40 Channels to create Bainbridge Island Citizen Band Radio Communications.

FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams go beyond just CB radio communications, by provide services such as:

  • Emergency Traffic Control,
  • Event Parking Control,
  • Search and Rescue Support,
  • Assistance with Public Events,
  • Roadways Safety Alerts,
  • Monitor Harsh Weather Traffic Flow,
  • Local Emergency Management Offices,
  • Law Enforcement Assistance,
  • Skywarn/Storm Spotters
  • Other Community Communication.

    However, many CB Radio functions require members to have operational Experience and Equipment, as in:

  • Home/Work Base Station,
  • Car Mobile Radio,
  • Handheld Radio,

    Radio Communications that many FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams Utilize.


    REACT CB-9 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS OBJECTIVES

    (a) FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams, develop the use of the personal radio services as an additional source of communications for emergencies. disasters, and as an emergency aid to individuals;

    (b) FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams establish 24-hour volunteer monitoring of CB-9 Channel emergency calls, particularly over officially designated CB-9 emergency frequencies, from personal radio service operators, and reporting such calls to FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Control Center or VHF/UHF Race, Ares, Mars, including appropriate emergency response authorities;

    (c) FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams promote transportation safety by developing programs that provide information and communications assistance to motorists;

    (d) FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams coordinate efforts with and provide communication assistance to other groups, such as:

  • Red Cross,
  • Emergency Disaster Relief Organizations,
  • Search and Rescue,
  • Community Event Communications,
  • Emergency Management Response Agencies,
  • Local, State, and Federal Authorities,
  • Not Limited Too,

    Participation during community emergencies and majors community disasters;

    (e) FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams develop, administer, and promote public information projects demonstrating and publicizing the potential benefits and the proper training to utilize CB radio service to REACT Teams Personnel, Community individuals, organizations, industry, and government;

    (f) FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams participate in citizens community crime watch and prevention programs where established by FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB REACT COMMUNITY TEAMS and appropriate law enforcement agencies.


    REACT CB-9 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS PURPOSES

  • CB Radio Traning the correct usage of CB Emergency Channel 9,

  • Developing the skilled use of the CB Radio Service, GMRS, Amateur Radio with packet VHF/UHF/HF BBS, Cellular and other radio services as additional sources of communications in emergencies,

  • Coordinating efforts with other emergency organizations including Police, Military, FEMA, NOAA, RACES, ARES, NOVAD, Salvation Army, American Red Cross and other disater emergency organizations,

  • Providing public service communications for travelers and other local communities,

  • Using CB Radio for Public Safety Interests.

    FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams monitor Citizens Band/CB Radio Emergency Channel 9. Many also use radios called General Mobile Radio Service/GMRS and have access to local Licensed FCC VHF/UHF/HF Amateur Radio Operators and other Amaterur Radio Repeaters, generally on low-band VHF (49-108 MHz), high-band VHF (169-216 MHz), low-band UHF (450-806 MHz), and high-band UHF (900-952 MHz)(VHF represents “Very High Frequency” while UHF represents “Ultra High Frequency) frequency. FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Teams have more than one repeater and belong to repeater groups, or radio operator may be on different frequencies.

    REACT International is a recipient of the President's Volunteer Action Award.

    FORT WARD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB/REACT Team Members work to "assist in and improve" Bainbridge Island Communities, work to assist in an untold number of small local emergencies ranging from:

  • Single Family House Fires,
  • Multi-Unit Apartment Fires,
  • Brush Fires,
  • Chemical Spills,
  • Train Derailments,
  • Traffic Acidents,
  • Assisting Shelter Operations,
  • Participations With Other Agencies and Organization During Floods/Mudslides,
  • Relentless Monitoring of Emergency CB Channel 9,
