In times of crisis,special community engaments, normal communications may not be operational. To help, the Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club utilizes a team of volunteer amateur radio operators that make up the Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team (ECST). The Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team can be deployed to field locations where citizens are experiencing communications problems and provide a helping hand, base on certified training capacity. Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team Members may report to a communications control center/CENCOM witin the city, town or community existing Government Emergency Operations Center. Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team Members are also charged with staffing the Community Emergency Information Relay Stations (CEIRS) during activation. Operation of the Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team falls largely on the shoulders of the non-profit group, Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team "Auxiliary Communications Service" (ACS). Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team Volunteers provides an invaluable service to the city, town or community who request auxillary communications. Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team, operate as part of the EACS Team under a Memorandum of Understanding with the commimunity, are registered as emergency workers through the Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications System Team Emergency Volunteer Program. Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club Emergency Volunteer Services Teams: Support any and all professional services, specialized expertise and abilities to serve in Emergency Volunteer Public Service and communications systems in disaster Emergency Services, event of failure, overload or other disater problems that might jeopardize Emergency Response usefulness and purpose, including monitoring airwaves, as a listen post, keeping communication active and ready, including helping hands.
