Metrolink will install 3,500 support bolts and plates, and spray concrete to reline Tunnel 26, a 7,369' tunnel north of Chatsworth, CA (CWT), between MP 441.2 and 442.6 on the Ventura Subdivision. The work will be performed five nights per week, between 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday, beginning Tuesday, April 4. The project is scheduled for 290 working days.
No train traffic will be allowed between Simi Valley (SIM) and Chatsworth (CWT) during work hours. In the event Amtrak No. 11 will not pass Simi Valley (SIM) by 10:00PM, the train will be terminated at Santa Barbara, CA (SBA), where station services personnel are available, and passengers will be provided alternate transportation to Los Angeles (LAX). The equipment will then deadhead to Moorpark (MPK) for storage until the night’s work is completed, when it will deadhead to Los Angeles (LAX). Passengers destined for Oxnard (OXN) will remain on board No. 11’s equipment from Santa Barbara (SBA), and will detrain at Oxnard (OXN) as the equipment deadheads to Moorpark (MPK). A fifth set of equipment is currently available at Los Angeles (LAX) to protect an on time departure of No. 14 the following morning.
