Here is an update on several operational issues.
Three Rivers
As I am sure that you are aware, earlier this week, the Three Rivers, Trains #40 & 41 discontinued operation between Chicago and New York via Philadelphia. Trains #42 & 43 will now operate from New York to Pittsburgh.
Portland, Oregon
Effective immediately, the price to park a private car in Portland, OR has been increased to $225 per car, per night. The track where private cars are parked is owned by the City of Portland and as a result of the elimination of Mail and Express, Amtrak no longer leases this track from the city. Therefore an increased parking fee must be paid to the city when a private car uses this facility.
Insurance Certificates
Effective immediately, we are requiring that we have a copy of the private car’s Certificate of Insurance on file in our office in CNOC. Recently, it has come to our attention that several owners may not have the correct amount of insurance for their cars. Therefore, we will keep a copy in our office to verify that all owners meet this important qualification before we authorize all future car movements.
Albuquerque, NM
Effective immediately, Albuquerque, NM is once again available for private car use! Thanks to Richard Phelps and his staff for considering and approving this attractive location once again for private cars.
Private Car Photos
We would like to have a picture of every private car that we handle on file as we are building a comprehensive listing of all the cars that we handle. If you have an electronic picture of your car, please e-mail it to Billie at your convenience.
