SEATTLE. WASHINGTON: Seattle Planning Department, Marshall.Foster@seattle.gov of Central Waterfront Committee, charged with streering the redisgn of the Seattle Waterfront Redevelopment. In a statement Concerning Seattle National Train Day Event Planning, Marshall Foster stated, "There are no specific plans regarding National Train Day included in this early phase of design work. As we’ve discussed, we think this is an interesting idea, but isn’t timely now at this early phase in design and planning". Louis Alloin Representing Seattle National Train Day Planning Committee and Stakeholder In Central Waterfront Planning, addressed the CWC Members, stating, " The need to organized and implement event planning must be part of the CWC Planning Process. As the land management must multi-diversity to include retaining the historical trackage on the waterfront, for Waterfront Event Center, that includes railway capacity to present exhibit. Delaying Seattle NTD form immediate CWC planning participation would hinder Seattle Railway Tourism".
WASHINGTON STATE: To receive $145 million in federal high-speed-rail funds after state and federal officials signed documents Friday guaranteeing the deal. With the funds secured, work on Amtrak’s Cascades rail line to boost capacity and relieve congestion is expected to begin this summer and should allow more frequent and reliable service on the Portland-Vancouver, B.C., route. The new amount brings the state’s total in American Reinvestment and Recovery Act high-speed-rail funding to approximately $735 million. The money was given to the state after governors in Wisconsin and Ohio returned the funds. WSDOT also applied for $120 million in funds returned by Florida. April 8, 2011

DULUTH, GEORGIA: The Railroad Revival Tour kick off October 20th at, fittingly enough, the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth with a host of musicians travel to outdoor dates by train has announced a new lineup and route arrive in vintage train for 2012.
The Railroad Revival Tour 2012 will find Willie Nelson & Family, Band of Horses, Jamey Johnson and John Reilly & Friends crossing the rails for eight shows between Duluth, Georgia and Oakland, California.
Railroad Revival Tour is an experience that glorifies the historical romance between music and trains under the setting of the "Great American Railway Landscape" . It also notes that along with individual performances and promises a spontaneous and unique collaborations onstage as well as on the train and whislestop performances.
